Laura Brownfield and GlassPlay

Allow me introduce you to my love of fused or "warm" glass.

Laura's rich artistic heritage, love of travel, cultures, and the beauty of nature influence her work.  With her studio on the windswept Oregon coast, Laura captures  elements of nature in her art.  

With a prior career as an art teacher, Laura continues to share her passion for art.  She offers informal classes in her studio or as a guest instructor.  

Custom designs can be commissioned with company logos or individual requests.

Art glass has a magical translucence, with brilliant colors that seem to come alive!  The depth and warmth of glass invites and welcomes the viewer with a comforting fluidity and glow.  

Laura uses primarily Oregon Bullseye glass and she enjoys trips to the factory to choose glass that will translate her ideas into glass reality. 

One of her favorite techniques is called a vitrograph were she can pull the hot glass and create organic elements to include in her work.

Laura gathers her inspiration from her surroundings and what warms her heart, makes her smile, peaks her curiosity or takes her breath away.  

Learning a new technique will create inspiration and open doors to new expression. Taking on challenges from students or customers are always an inspiration. 

Themes from the desert, mountains, or coastal scenes to  whimsical expressions of love and peace are shown in her work.
